Running Cost Comparison

ecowarmth - electrical storage heating with a difference

effective – economical – affordable

Below shows comparison running costs between ecowarmth radiators and night storage heaters for a typical living room of 22 m2 (approx 12 ft x 18 ft) with ceiling height 2.40m (8ft)
In both cases reasonable insolation and double glazed windows is assumed.

Night Storage Heating

Kw required: 3.4 Kw* + 2 Kw*extra electrical heating for evening (electric fire)
(* As recommended by DIMPLEX in their Heating Guide)

Tariff SWEB (EDF) Economy 7

Band B =   4.29p per kWh

Band C = 11.42p per kWh

Calculation

3.4 Kw x 7 hrs x £0.0429/Kwh = £1.02 per day

+

2 Kw x 2 hrs x £0.1142/Kwh = £0.46 per day (equates to 4 hrs x 1 Kw)

Total: £1.48 per day

Ecowarmth Heating  System

Kw required: 2.0 Kw

Tariff: SWEB (EDF) Standard

Band B = 10.16p per kWh

Calculation

2 Kw x 24 hrs x £0.1016/Kwh x 25% * x 60 %* = £0.73 per day

(= 36.5 p per Kw per day)

Total: £0.73 per day

*   equates to 15 minutes of electricity usage for each hour of heat required

**  ecowarmth heaters provide 20ºC heat inside even at -5ºC outside. With average winter temperatures of +5ºC, this means ecowarmth radiators work on average at 60% of full capacity

Difference in running costs £1.48 - £0.73 = £0.75

This represents a 50% saving compared to night storage heating + extra heating for evenings

Remember:
With Ecowarmth radiators you have a large choice of sizes of radiators and power ratings to suit.

With night storage heating your choice of size and power rating is very limited!
